Introduction
The data storage industry is fast-paced and imbued with dynamism, often involving the rapid deployment of frontier technologies. Moving forward, DSI will continue to be responsive to the environment's ever-evolving needs, and hence remain instrumental in growing the data storage cluster.
DSI's present Research & Development structure, divided into Spintronics, Media and Interface, Mechatronics and Recording Channel, Optical Materials and Systems, Network Storage Technology and Integrative Science and Engineering, will place the Institute well in position to meet future challenges presented by the industry. Project-driven, the structure allows for resource maximisation within the Institute.
Exciting times lie ahead for these five divisions. Not only will they provide more opportunities for project teams as well as individuals to excel and contribute to the fulfilment of DSI's vision, mission and goal, they will also facilitate DSI's efforts towards integrative science and engineering. This, in turn, will reinforce alignment with the technology strategy mapped out by the Institute, and will result in even greater positive impact on the industry.
